FoS Trivia Challenge 2005

Post by Jason of the Fraternity »

Esteemed Brothers,

As the seasons continue to change, the time of Samhein is rapidly drawing near. There are many things that must be done before that momentous evening comes. However, as you may have already noticed, our elegant Manoir de Penombre has been frequented by more and more guests. Now, we certainly cannot sacrifice our good manners as more pressing matters arise. Therefore, I propose a simple solution. A contest!

Yes, I submit that we ask each of our honored guests to display their wits and resources in answering a set of questions. These questions have been gathered from several sources. Some answers can be found hidden within the dark nooks and crannies of this establishment. Other answers can be found in the fire-kissed rubble of the Vallaki bookstore. The rest of the answers? Well, only the most ingenious and resourceful of adventurers will find where they lie…

Certainly, we cannot expect anyone to spend their precious time and energy doing this scavenger hunt of knowledge for nothing. No, we must reward potential initiates with the proper incentives. Therefore, the one capable of answering the most questions correct will win not only fame (or infamy) from his peers but a free book from the illustrious Fraternity of Shadows as well.

So, my brothers, if there are no objections, then let the game begin…

Yours in darkness,
Brother Jason
Fraternity of Shadows

Allright, a challenge! I'm up for it, I just won my city newspaper's week-long horror movie trivia contest, I have to go into the paper's office tomorrow to have my picture taken and pick up my prize, 4 tickets to the local Halloween haunted house and dinner for 4 at the Pizza Hut. 8)
Of course, those questions were easy, like 'What horror movie was nominated for 10 Academy Awards? (A. The Exorcist) Knowing the caliber of the folks here at FOS, we'll be talking some real hardcore knowledge. Let the game begin!

*Rubs hands together eagerly* :D

I doubt I've got much chance, considering that the majority of what I know comes from questions I asked of more knowledgeable people here and at the old SotK board, but hey, why not give it a shot? 8)

Just to make sure nobody tries to hack our computers to get the answers, or kidnap my daughter, or eat my Oreos while dancing on a pile of my CDs, I'll add just this to Jason's info: most of the answers can be found in Ravenloft netbooks or in Ravenloft 3e stuff, and a few other elsewhere :)

The hunt starts soon!

I can guarentee that you will be challenged with a wide variety of Ravenloft trivia. As Joel already stated, we've gather our questions from a variety of sources (both canon and fan-made). Plus, I would recommend that you don't get too cormfortable in our salon or library, since our material comes from sources that even we do not keep in the manor (at least not to which the common guest would have access). Of course, no test put forth by the Fraternity of Shadows would ever be easy...

Indeed, there is nothing to gain if you don't at least give it a try... 8)

[raising hand] Question: would you check the phasing of questions #27 and #73? I want to be sure I have them down right. Thanks!
I only wish I had retired sooner!
